Three-time FIA World Champion Petter Solberg has confirmed he will aim to best his own best at next month’s Norges Råeste Bakkeløp hillclimb in Norway.
Running his Monster Energy-backed Citroën DS3 WRC, Norway’s most successful driver ever will chase his own record-breaking time for the 3.75-kilometre hill in Målsev Fjellandsby.
Petter said: “Norges Råeste Bakkeløp is an event I am very close to and a challenge I really enjoy – it’s one of the biggest motorsport events we have here in Norway. It’s not just the hillclimb, there’s some racing, drifting and a lot, a lot of people enjoying themselves.
“As an ambassador for the event, it’s a real honour to come and drive the hill. But, when I’m pulling on my helmet, there’s only one thing I’m thinking about: the win. Actually, there’s two things, it’s the win and the record!
“We have made some changes to the DS3 for the event – we’ve got a rebuilt engine and new transmission. We’re ready.
“The atmosphere at this event is always a really nice one; it’s a great place to meet some friends from the past and to enjoy watching some really cool and quick cars coming to a very nice place. I have some fantastic memories from here and I look forward to making some more in July.”
Norges Råeste Bakkeløp CEO Jan Helge Nilsen added: “Norway’s most extreme hillclimb is pleased to announce our extended partnership with Petter Solberg. Petter is a highly valued ambassador for Norges Råeste Bakkeløp – and the current record holder.”
The event runs from July 19-23, with Saturday delivering the Norges Råeste Bakkeløp main event.
